China-Europe Arctic Express Route Enters Regular Summer Operations

The China-Europe Arctic Express Route, the world’s first container service via the Arctic Northeast Passage, is set to establish regular summer voyages in 2026. Operated by Sea Legend Shipping, this groundbreaking route connects Ningbo-Zhoushan Port in Zhejiang Province directly to major European gateways including Felixstowe (UK)Rotterdam (Netherlands)Hamburg (Germany), and Gdansk (Poland).
  1. Transit Time: Just 18-20 days from China to the UK, compared to 40 days via Suez Canal
  2. Carbon Reduction: Up to 50% lower emissions compared to traditional routes
  3. Cargo Types: Optimized for cross-border e-commerce, lithium batteries, photovoltaic products, and high-value goods
  4. Seasonal Operations: July to November navigation window, with plans for year-round service
The maiden voyage of “Istanbul Bridge” vessel completed successfully in October 2025, carrying 4,890 TEUs through the Arctic waters. The operator plans to deploy more ice-reinforced vessels and establish weekly or bi-weekly fixed schedules during summer navigable periods.
